This was my fathr at about age thirty-five. He was the Operations Officer for the 98th Aero Squadron, Alabama ANG. The year was 1929 his first child, my sister Sophie, was just born. After 10 years service with the Alabama Air National Guard, he resigned to pursue a civilian career full time with the Birmingham Slag Company - second to his wife, Bertha, it was to be the love of his life.
